Is your shop clean and sterile?
Madame Lazonga's Tattoo holds itself to very high standards.
We strive to make your experience as safe and comfortable
as possible. All needles are single-use only. They are sterilized
prior to tattooing, and disposed of directly after as medical
waste. All artists are certified in cross-contamination and
blood-borne pathogens training. We use a medical grade autoclave
to steam sterilize all of our equipment, which we spore test monthly. All artists use high
quality products, such as inks and needles, for every tattoo.
If you have any questions or concerns about the tattoo process
feel free to call us and chat with any of our staff. They
are all knowledgeable and can answer your questions.

Can I take some drugs for the pain?
Firstly, we will not tattoo anyone under the influence of illegal drugs or
alcohol. The fact is that drugs & alcohol do not do anything to help relieve the pain. Alcohol thins your blood, which makes your tattoo heal poorly. Getting high actually makes you more sensitive to pain and impairs your ability to cope with pain. We also recommend that you refrain from taking aspirin
or other drugs that thin the blood before your tattoo. Ibuprofen,
Acetaminophen, or Aleve are okay to relieve pain. Yes, it
will hurt. Pain is a part of the process, and most of the
time the pain is not as bad as you think.

What are the health risks?
As with any body modification, there are risks involved. This is a procedure that breaks the skin to insert pigment, so you are left with what is essentially an open wound. If you cannot care for the tattoo, you could get an infection and it will not heal properly, and your tattoo will not look good. You must accept full responsibility for the care of your tattoo, and the fact that it is going to be on your body forever. We guarantee our work but if you can’t heal your tattoo properly you will have to cover any cost of fixing the tattoo later. Following the aftercare instructions provided by us will give you the best results.
Also, certain health conditions and prescription drugs can adversely affect your ability to heal a tattoo. Before you get a tattoo, please let us know if you’re taking any kind of medication that weakens your immune system or thins the blood (this even includes Aspirin). Also, we ask that if you have certain health conditions to consult your doctor before getting a tattoo to be sure that he/she feels it is safe. Some of these conditions include: Hepatitis A-C, Diabetes, Cancer, HIV/AIDS. If you have a medical condition or are on medications we ask that you let us know, so that we can address your specific risks.

How long does a tattoo take?
Tattooing time varies depending on the design, the artist,
and on how well you can sit for your tattoo. We are happy
to give you an estimate on how long we think it will take,
but keep in mind it would only be an estimate.

I really want a tattoo, but I'm not sure what I want. Can you help me decide?
Kudos to you for wanting a tattoo. However, we will not choose subject matter for you. We can offer suggestions based on what your ideas or likes may be. If you're not even sure of the subject matter perhaps this is not the right time for you to get a tattoo. We have some reference books available for parusing here at the shop, but really the best place to look first is an online image search engine (google images, bing, etc.). There are also lots of tattoo design websites that you can look through designs that are available for purchase to use as your tattoo design. Keep in mind too that we are also a custom shop and are able to do the best job possible to customize your tattoo so that it is a high quality tattoo created specifically for you.

Do you do White Ink Tattoos?
On occasion, providing you fully understand and accept all the limitations of white ink.
First of all, white ink does not last. It will fade away very fast and you'll need to get frequent touch-ups. It does not heal to a true white. Your skin color will heal over it so whatever color your skin is will tint the white. Also it never heals evenly so you will need touch-ups. Because of this we never guarantee any free touch ups on white ink tattoos.

Do you do tattoos on the neck, face or hands?
Generall we will not do so unless the client is already fully tattooed - this means full sleeves or already having a visible tattoo above the collar or on the hands. This is simply our policy. We typically will not do rings on fingers either, unless the artist and client agree on the limitations of tattooing this area. Tattoos above the collar line can be done on women as long as it can easily be hidden with hair or behind the ear (not ON the ear). We will never tattoo the palm of the hand - it simply does not last. Same goes for the inside of the lip.

Do you do tattoos on the feet or toes?
We will tattoo the tops of the feet as long as you can devote at least 2-3 days for restful healing time. Standing on a freshly tattooed foot is bad for your healing time - not only is it painful but your foot could swell quite a bit. Also because of the nature of the skin on top of your foot, we don't guarantee free touch-ups as the ink is much more likely to fall out or spread fastly. Most of the time we will not do small tattoos on the toes - the ink just doesn't stay crisp and has a tendency to fall out very fast so you are left with a little blob on your toe. We never tattoo the rough part of the heel or anywhere on the bottom of the foot. Again, the ink does not stay.
